Chimney Sweeping
Bennett’s Chimney Sweep have years of experience cleaning chimneys in West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey and Kent. For a typical chimney sweep please allow 45 minutes for the service.
What happens? A large dust proof membrane and sheet is is placed on the floor in front of the fireplace to protect your floor/carpet. Specially made sheets are used for covering the recess of the fireplace, top spec sweeping equipment and a vacuum are used to ensure the chimney is cleaned thoroughly and all soot and debris is contained.
For your peace of mind and for the benefit of your home insurance we provide a certificate of chimney sweeping.
How often should I have my chimney swept?
As a general rule of thumb; have your chimney swept once a year. For your home insurance to be valid you will likely be required to have your chimney cleaned annually.
Depending on how often you use your chimney and what fuel is burned the following rules should apply:
- Wood: Quarterly when in use
- Coal: Quarterly when in use
- Oil: Once a year
- Gas: Once a year
- Smokeless Fuel: At least once a year
